 Digital Camera Scavenger Hunt!

Rules:  It’s pretty simple!  Follow the list of clues. Locate the place referred to by the clue (or what you think is the right place). Drive there in your Spridget and take a picture that proves you found the clue and include your Spridget to show you were there.  Return to the hotel and download your pictures.  We will have a laptop for you to download to but you will need a USB cable that fits your camera.   The winner will be the one with the most correct pictures!  Oldest car wins a tie breaker… 

The Clues!!

1.       The only town in the US with this Barron’s name!  Think Peter Boyle as the monster. Think Marty Feldman as Igor. East of Jefferson City, the state capital.  Get a pic with the town sign.

2.     While you are in the area, get a pic by Bonnot’s Mill under the Backes Feed Co. sign. Not far west of clue #2.

3.     Missouri 100 and Missouri 94 run along the Missouri River through what is known as the Missouri Rhineland. One point each for Hermann wineries; Adam Puchta, Hermannhof, OakGlenn, Stone Hill.

4.     Return through Jefferson City and identify the statue on top of the state Capitol building with your car in the pic.

5.     Bugeye – Frogeye… Horny Toads aren’t frogs. Try road HH and get a pic under the sign.

6.     Follow Missouri 5 north from Camdenton. It’s a deep, dark place to tie the knot. Get a pic at the entrance.

7.     On north on Missouri 5 through Laurie to just south of Gravois Mills turn right and get picture at Frog’s Restaurant & Bar.

8.     Back to Missouri 5 and north through Gravois Mills turn right on TT. Get a pic at Jacob’s Cave.

9.     Continue on TT back to Missouri 5 turning right on 5 to Versailles. There turn left on the main drag (52) past the airport and left again on T. Stay on T all the way across 135 to the Grey Bear Winey and Buffalo Creek Winery on Possum Trot Rd.   

10.  Missouri 135 north toward Stover is a beautiful drive. “Large Richard’s” place is “midway” along the way. Get a pic of his sign. For an extra point get a pic of one of his “special drinks”. For one more point, confirm drinking one.

11.   Buster was the recipient of the famous “BusterCluster” in 2006. Get a picture with his namesake in Osage Beach along US-54.

12.  Like a European castle on the Rhine  Robert McClure Snyder’s dream home burned in 1942.  South of Camdenton on Missouri Hwy D.

13.  Camden County highway “A” runs east from US-54 near Linn Creek. Find the caverns in the park north of “A”.

14.  Kooky, Kooky, lend me your comb!  The sign alone is worth a pic! Try Waynesville, Lebanon, Rolla, Saint James where the historic highway runs along side of I-44….

15.   South of I-44 from Waynesville get a pic of the car in front of the Fort Leonard Wood base gate.

16.   Go ahead and “Elbow Inn” at the Devil’s Elbow on Historic Rt. 66.

17.   How about the Granview Courts for a pic?

18.   Exit I-44 eastbound at exit 179. Head south on Truman St. (Missouri T) and turn immediate left on Eisenhower St. Keep right on Martin Springs (CR-7100).  You are driving on Historic Route 66.  Continue east and get 3 pics.  The Totem Pole Trading Post (1933), Zeno’s Motel and Steak House (1957) and the unusual curbs along the road. For an extra point, find out why the curbs are that way and how well it worked.

19.   There are 5 wineries and tasting rooms in Saint James. Two points for finding Heinrichshaus, one point each for Meramec, St. James, Ferrigno, and 4-M - Rosati!  Don’t forget the pics!
